The Vice President

Picture
The Vice President of the United States is a very interesting position in the Executive Branch because it has changed so much since the founding fathers wrote the Constitution.  The current Constitutional job of the Vice President is to preside over the Senate, and to replace the President in the unfortunate event of his death.  Thats all.  Over the years the Vice Presidents role has increased, but not dramatically.  He is often chosen to be the Presidential Candidates Vice President to balance out the ticket, and hopefully attract voters.  His primary role however, is still to replace the President if he is unable to perform his duties.  In fact, only 8 Vice Presidents have become the President due to the death of the President.
